Most stores sell shipping. We sell protection.

Museum-grade custom crating engineered around the item, not standard packaging dimensions. Built for artwork, antiques, fine art, collectibles, medical equipment, industrial machinery, trade show exhibits, and high-value electronics. Engineered wood crates, foam-in-place cushioning, load containment, vibration isolation, and ISPM-15 compliant export construction. The shipments most stores turn away are the shipments we build for.

Why crating exists

Most crating failures happen before the box is built.

Cardboard boxes are engineered for standard parcel weight limits and handling conditions. When a shipment is oversized, fragile, high-value, or irregular in shape, cardboard stops being protection and starts being a liability. The failure usually isn't in the wood. It's in the assessment that came before it.

Assessment before design.

Design before materials.

A crate is not a box with wood sides.

It is a protection system built around the item.

What we build crates for

If standard packaging is not enough, crating is the answer.

We build crates for items where damage is not an acceptable outcome: high-replacement-cost items, one-of-a-kind pieces, commercial equipment, and anything that cannot survive standard carrier handling without engineered protection.

Artwork and collectibles

Original paintings, sculptures, framed pieces, antiques, and collector items. Internal suspension systems isolate the piece from shock.

Commercial equipment

Machinery, electronics, medical equipment, industrial tools, and manufacturing components. Engineered for weight distribution and vibration.

Furniture and antiques

High-value furniture, heirlooms, and antiques that cannot be replaced. Custom foam profiles and internal bracing prevent movement.

Oversized and irregular items

Items that do not fit standard packaging dimensions. We build to the item, not to a standard box size.

Sensitive instruments

Scientific instruments, optical equipment, and calibrated devices that require vibration isolation and impact protection.

High-value freight

When replacement cost, sentimental value, or operational dependency makes damage unacceptable, crating is the right answer.

Trade show displays

Displays, signage, and presentation materials that need to arrive intact and on schedule. Crates built for repeated use.

International shipments

ISPM-15 compliant heat-treated wood for international freight. Export documentation coordinated.

How we engineer protection

Protection starts before the crate is built.

Every crate starts with an assessment of the item, the route, and the risk. We design the protection system around what can go wrong in transit, not around what is convenient to build.

01

Crate engineering

Structural wood crates built to the item's exact dimensions. Corner blocking, internal bracing, and load-bearing design based on weight and fragility.

02

Foam and cushioning systems

Foam-in-place cushioning, polyethylene foam, and custom-cut foam profiles that suspend the item away from crate walls and absorb impact.

03

Load containment

Internal blocking and bracing to prevent movement during transit. The item does not shift. The crate absorbs the force.

04

Vibration reduction

Vibration-isolating materials for sensitive equipment and instruments. Reduces the cumulative damage of road and air freight vibration.

05

Moisture and environmental barriers

Poly sheeting, desiccant packs, and vapor barriers for items sensitive to humidity, condensation, or temperature change.

06

ISPM-15 compliance

Heat-treated lumber for all international shipments. Compliant with international phytosanitary standards. Export documentation coordinated.

Who uses custom crating

Customers who cannot afford to get it wrong.

Custom crating is used by collectors, businesses, auction houses, manufacturers, interior designers, and anyone moving high-value or irreplaceable items. The common thread is that the cost of damage, financial or operational, is unacceptable.

Art collectors and galleries - Moving original works where damage is not recoverable.
Auction houses - Coordinating lot shipments where condition determines value.
Manufacturers - Shipping commercial equipment where downtime is the real cost.
Interior designers - Moving high-value furniture where replacement is not an option.
Businesses relocating - Sensitive electronics or instruments that cannot be reordered.
Trade show operators - Display systems that need to arrive intact and on schedule.
Common questions

Custom crating questions

How do I get a crating quote?+

Call, text a photo, or bring the item in. We assess dimensions, weight, fragility, and destination to build an accurate quote. Photos help significantly for unusual or oversized items.

How long does it take to build a crate?+

Crate timing depends on complexity, materials, and current workload. The team confirms timing after reviewing the item and requirements.

Do you build crates for international shipments?+

Yes. We use ISPM-15 heat-treated lumber for all international freight crates. We also coordinate the export documentation.

What is the difference between a crate and a box?+

A cardboard box is a container. A crate is a protection system engineered around the item. Crates use structural wood, internal bracing, foam cushioning, and load containment to prevent damage from impact, vibration, compression, and movement.

Can you crate items that are already packed?+

In some cases, yes. We assess the existing packaging and build the crate around it. If the existing packaging is inadequate, we will tell you before building.

Do you ship the crate after building it?+

Yes. We coordinate freight pickup and delivery through our freight carrier network. You do not need a separate freight broker.

Have something that needs a crate?

Tell us what you have. Once the details needed for review are available, the team will confirm next steps and expected timing.
